ParaScale Named Cool Vendor in Storage Management by Leading Analyst Firm
Storage Companies Selected for "Cool Vendor Report" CUPERTINO, CA - March 10, 2009 - ParaScale, Inc., a startup company developing software to build public and private cloud storage solutions, is pleased to announce that Gartner Inc., the world’s leading information technology research and advisory company, has named it one of Gartner’s “Cool Vendors in Storage Management” in a March 4, 2009 report released by Gartner, Inc. Written by Dave Russell John P. Morency, and Donna Taylor, the report, “Cool Vendors in Storage Management, 2009,” detailed companies that provide data storage and related offerings. The report states: “In challenging macroeconomic times, storage teams are searching for ways to handle increasing service-level requirements, while managing to strict budget constraints and internal and external business guidelines. Now, more than ever, cost containment is a key concern. Alternative delivery methods for storage services are also becoming a consideration as a means for addressing costs, because some service providers offer needed storage activities in a cost-effective manner and/or make them available without consuming as much of an IT staff's administrative team. In some cases, the specific expertise of these service providers is such that using them could be more expedient than building the capability in-house.” “ParaScale has created a very differentiated approach to enabling storage services in the cloud with software that clusters tens to hundreds of commodity servers together to act as a file repository with massive capacity and parallel throughput,” said Sajai Krishnan, CEO, ParaScale. “By combining ParaScale software and end-customer or reseller selected standard servers, managed service providers can build different types of public clouds and offer a variety of cloud storage services, while enterprises can start small and build their own corporate clouds inside the firewall. We believe recognition from Gartner as a cool vendor in our marketplace is another important milestone for us.” About Gartner's Cool Vendors Selection Process' Gartner's listing does not constitute an exhaustive list of vendors in any given technology area, but rather is designed to highlight interesting, new and innovative vendors, products and services.
