ParaScale and Alfresco have partnered together to bring to market a cloud based integrated Enterprise Content Management solution.

How it works

In traditional ECM solutions the front-end application and the back-end content repository run on separate hardware. They communicate using traditional IP networks usually through a storage gateway. Such an architecture is more cumbersome to manage and suffers from higher document retrieval times due to network latencies and the gateway being a bottleneck.

The ParaScale Cloud ECM solution eliminates a lot of these complexities. The ParaScale cloud storage software aggregates storage from heterogeneous servers to form a massively scalable storage pool that can be viewed, accessed and managed from a single point. The software runs in user space on any commodity hardware running standard Linux. This makes it possible to run the Alfresco Open Source Enterprise Content Management Solution on the same hardware that is running the ParaScale cloud software. Tightly integrating the Alfresco Solution with the ParaScale cloud storage platform provides a clean and elegant solution while significantly improving manageability and performance.

Enterprises just need to setup one cloud infrastructure which runs the Operating System, ParaScale Cloud Storage Software and the Alfresco ECM software. Such a tightly integrated system is easy to setup and removes the need for separate hardware. Enterprises no longer need to maintain islands of storage and the entire networking infrastructure between the ECM application software and the storage. This improves the performance of the complete ECM solution by eliminating traditional networking problems like higher latencies, packet loss and bandwidth congestion.
